Born and raised on the base.  My dad worked at SNORT.  My mom still lives there and I visit often.  I love the memories of growing up there.

For those that may not know, Pat Jones passed away quite a few years ago so the site is not updated.
I believe that the Ridgecrest Historical group pays for the hosting, but they do not update.

This posting is for the many friends of the Maynard and Jimmie Craig families. I worked with Maynard in the Engineering Dep't. on the base.
Maynard built two Geodesic Homes, just outside of Newport, WA where I now live. His son, Jimmie Craig, helped start the Airplane Sail and Balloon
clubs in the Indian Wells Valley. Many of you ballooners should remember him. He once launched a balloon from my Flathead Lake property in MT. His wife, Carole G. Craig, died on 6-23-2013 in Bakersfield, CA. She is now buried with Jim and other members of their family; here in Newport, WA. The Craig's lived near Newport, with their five children; from 1977 to
2001. They were good people; they deserve to be remembered. I have
great memories of Ridgecrest and it's early years. Take care, R. Gerard.

I have very good memories of Ridgecrest. Originally born in Bakersfield, moving between the two cities throughout elementary school, then settling back in Ridgecrest for  junior high and high school...I have met some of the most wonderful people there.  My mother still lives there.  My brothers and I still call it home.

Friday night Football Games, Tuesday and Friday Night Basketball games in the "Barn," filled with loud fans, long bus trips with the track and field team that dominated the Golden League back then......these are all fond memories and I will never forget.

I grew up in the Indian Wells Valley, I went to nursery school in China Lake and graduated from Burroughs in 1963, miss China Lake and R/C, I go back every chance I get. Lots of my friends are still there. I'll be going back to R/C next Oct. for my 50th class reunion, hope to see as many old friends as I can.
I've lived in a lot of places but Ridgecrest is my favorite place...........
