Lots of memories. Lived in Inyokern and R/C from 84-94ish. Went to Pierce elementary, Murray Junior and grad from Burroughs in 93. Honestly, don't miss the heat but do miss my friends/family that happen to be still there.

In 1945 I went up to the NOTS to work for a civilian contractor. My job took me all over the base. Each morning I arrived at the motor pool to see what kind of transportation was assigned to me for the day. Usually, it was a pick-up truck. One day there wasn't one available, so I wound up driving a monster military vehicle. Heady stuff for a very young woman. I remember coming "home" at the end of the day to discover our Quonset hut was knee deep in sand. Oh well. Routine. Also eating in the navy mess hall. It wasn't like dining in my mother's loving home. I am 92 years old now, but I still remember the excitement of being there and I will never forget.

I was born in 1951 in Drummond Hospital, Ridgecrest. My brother Dennis in 1954. My older brother John was born at China Lake. We lived on the navel base at at the time but it was known as NOTS. We went to St Ann’s in Ridgecrest and moved to Oxnard as my father was reassigned to Port Hueneme.I can remember so much of growing up in the desert. It was so much fun. I remember the All faith Chapel on the base and moving the alters for different religions. The Saturday afternoon movies, the indoor swimming pool.
