Comments: By a miraculous act I am in touch with my step sisters, the Sparrow girls. I have many wonderful memories of childhood in the desert, lizard hunting with Pete Pooley, the Merricks, Albert Adams, riding horses at Shanri-La ranch, and staying with the Reed family (Janie, Faye and Eugene).
I would love to be in contact with Jane Reed, now Jane Love, if anyone knows where she is. I have migrated to an area that isn't dissimilar to the Mojave Desert, as Western Australia is one of the biggest deserts in the world! Right now my daughter is traveling with Scitech in Warkuna (you'll have to look on your maps), so my early years in the desert communicated something to my own children, all naturalists. My son Gabriel is right now in Scotland staying at the Findhorn community for his landscaping business.
Sincerely
Marcia Henschel (Hewitt)

Are you willing to help with pictures? Will poke around the dusty archives and see what we have to offer.

Comments: Great website! Our tenure in the Indian Wells Valley spanned the mid '60s through the mid '90s, so many of the "old" photos have a familiar look to them. By the time I retired from Federal service in 1996, both my wife and I were in need of an environment that included green as a dominant natural color, so we opted for the forests considerably to the north. But the community spirit and friendships that were developed at China Lake & Ridgecrest remain to this day.
