I still live in the desert, but Las Vegas is so big now you can't find the desert anymore. I have not been back to the "R.C." for 3 years now since my parents retired but would like to check out the town soon for a couple of days. I used to always remember as a kid how all the kids would say there was nothing to do in R.C. Well, now I know that kids say that NO MATTER where they live! I think the best quality R.C. had and probably still has is the relative peacefulness of everyday life. R.C. is a place where you can leave the rat-race behind. My fondest memories would be of Burroughs High School and the desert parties. It is amazing how you can't remember what you did last week but your mind can take you back to the people and great times you had 20 years ago with vivid detail. As a runner in high school, I logged many miles through our glorious desert and city streets and can remember those days as if it was yesterday. I think anyone who grows up in R.C. will always call it their hometown. I know I do.

My Name is Kon Kolovos I live in Sydney Australia. My uncle Sam Kolovos died in Inyokern or Ridgecrest on 3rd January 1979 and is buried at the Desert Memorial Park Cemetery in Ridgecrest. Alongside him is buried his wife Muriel. The only other record of them that I can find in the 1930 Census as residents of Los Angeles where he owned a florist business. I would really love to hear if someone knew them or of them and could give me some details. Thank you

How glad I am to find this page. I am so sorry that no information from my 76 class is available. I was in Inyokern and Ridgecrest in the 75-76 school year as an exchange student at Burroughs and I haven't been back since then. Boy, do I have great memories of my stay in the desert. I loved it ! What a great experience !!! I have so many people to thank, the Cook's who used to live on Lilac and the Kruk's (Betty Kruk used to own Fabritique) were both my families, my teacher Mrs. Dunklau, my History teacher Mr. Rodgers, Mrs. Peck, I loved her, her son James was an amazing person. My adorable friends Daniel Cleaves (Danny, where in the world are you??, man, I miss you so much) and Denise Johnson. I've going to the different new photos in this web page and I am glad that the area has changed so much, boy I am really looking forward to going there very soon. I am not going to let my busy schedule interfere with a visit to the area soon. I thank all the great people in Inyokern and Ridgecrest because a part of my heart is still there, I keep my year book and my p.e t-shirt (given to me from classmates from the tennis team, I was terrible, by the way) as treasures. Anybody interested in contacting me even from other classes, like the 77-79 ones is more than welcome. Congratulations for having this interesting page that tells us the great story of an area that has learned to survive before adverse moments.

I have wonderful memories (& some not) of growing up in China Lake & Ridgecrest. I started senior high there & finished there, but attended schools in Oregon in between. I lived there twice after that. I have visited there maybe four times since & plan to next year with my husband. We plan on retiring there part time. My memories are many. I think of my homeland frequently & fondly. My Uncle Jim & Aunt Ruthie, along with their children reside there. I LOVE RIDGECREST & THE SURROUNDING AREA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My heart smiles at the thought. I am happy that this site is available. God is with you always!!!!!!!!!!!! Marriage before sex...Pass it on!!! Sandra G.
