I was born here at the Ridgecrest Community Hospital (so was my mother). I'll probably never leave. I have enjoyed this site tremendously. It is quite exciting to read and see the town as it was in it's infancy. My wife's grandmother was Jean McCammon....she passed on September 11, 2001. Many will remember her as a kindergarten teacher at Ridgecrest Heights School (now Faller School). Have a good one!!

Born a Navy brat in 1954, US NOTS, Inyokern, China Lake. Grew up in the Indian Wells Valley and loved every minute of it. Mom and Dad (Harold and Marty Stalnaker) made sure I and my siblings (Paul and Kelle) were always taken care of in all ways. Many wonderful people throughout our lives in IWV and they will never be forgotten. I remember the dime movies on the base and building baseball fields with my dad and all of the other boys and there Dad's with hand tools and pickup trucks. The fields were the ABC field on Downs where the Fire Station is now, The first fields where the Kerr McKee complex is now. And of course spending a weekend sun up to sundown building the current baseball field at the high school with Coach George Ridgley and the varsity baseball team of 1972. Many more memories come to mind, maybe another day. What a wonderful place to grow up!

Comments: Just an additional comment or two.. First in response to John Bechtel's message regarding the daughter of Mr & Mrs Means. Pauline is alive and well, she lives in Ridgecrest and I believe is now married. .
John's sister Joyce was my first girlfriend, she rode on the back of my minibike in the parade. We were made up like the Roadrunner. Beep Beep I hope Joyce is doing well.
In regard to Dr. Drummond, thanks to the good doctor, he performed my birth.. Thanks Doc.
Does anyone remember my Dad's Rock and Roll band? I understand they were the bomb! It was the 50's, I think the band was called the Princetons. It was Lead- Ronnie Newman, Rythmn - David Wilkie, Drums - Steve Zissos, Sax - Tom ???, Keyboards - Jimmy Cribb. Can I get a shout out for the Princetons!
