My family moved to Ridgecrest in 1958. I attended James Monroe and Burroughs High School....graduating in 1965 at age 16....left to attend college...Lived in Carmel, Monterey, Long Beach and San Diego....graduated from Cal State University San Diego. Returned to Ridgecrest for a month...married...moved to Albuquerque for a year...returned home....and I am here by choice....I can't think of anywhere I would rather live....the people are what make this community so great! Thanks for the trip down memory lane....you should publish this....it's wonderful!

I am the son of Burl & Isabel Matheny, greatest owners/operators of Little Lake Hotel & Cafe in its heyday. It was the most memorable home of my life! We lived there with my sister, Charlotte, in the mid-1950s. I am the only Matheny still living.
Charlotte and I went to school in Ridgecrest. I would love to hear from people who remember the Mathenys from our days at Little Lake.
You have an article in High Desert Memories showing Little Lake in ruin 40 years later, with my parents names on the Inyo Fishing Guide ad that is reproduced therein.
Please answer this question: Can I buy from you copies of the photos of Little Lake used in High Desert Memories, or a hard copy of the article? I can't get good copies off the Internet. I already
e-mailed David Wright some time back asking the question of him with no reply. I'd appreciate it as you have photos never before seen by me.

Being away from Ridgecrest and having a site to keep in touch with the desert is a great tool. Most people here just can't comprehend what living in the desert is like. At least now I can show them some pictures and get my "desert" fix when I'm missing Ridgecrest!
