Comments: I moved to China Lake in 1984, right around my 12th birthday. My friends and I explored everything - the Maturango Museum, the museum at Michelson Lab, the shops along Balsam, abondoned housing and facilities, the storage lots where they kept the helicopter drones and the Sabres, "B" Mountain, mysterious junk piles (with dirty magazines) in the desert, Mirror Lake. It was a grand adventure for a 12 year old boy on a bike.
I got my first job in China Lake, delivering the Daily Independent on base. I remember our big house and mowing what seemed to be the largest lawn in base housing(corner house, Lexington Ave. and Essex Circle)
I also swam for Coach Charlie Lattig on the BHS swim team from '84 - '85. Coach Lattig was a great coach and ran a classy program. Like other BHS sports teams, we had to dress up for away events. I hated it then, but looking back I see why it was so important.
China Lake/Ridgecrest was a wonderful place to grow up, and your website brings back some great memories. Thanks.

Comments: It's hard to write down in words what I really think about China Lake. I constantly look back on the 10 cent shows, the summer baseball, the many good friends, clear summer nights, the drive inn, the pools at the CPO club & Officers Club, Burroughs High, the desert, playing sports, family, all the old hang outs, and just being a desert boy. It is a great town to be from!!!

Comments: Appreciate your work putting this together. I trust this will 'snowball' into something much larger in in stories and pictures of old.
Thanks again,
