Comments:
I was born in Ridgecrest in '53. I came from a large family, 6 brothers and 1 sister. My parents moved here from the LA area. They both had tuberculosis and moved here for the dryer climate after rehabing. My father started a jewelry and gun store call Ship's Bell. He died from a relaps of TB when I was 6 This left a large family for my mother to raise. She sold off the guns and focused on just jewelry until she married H.K. Holland (from Holland and Lyons Mortuary). She sold the store and began helping H.K. I have many memories of R/C, mostly good ones.
It was a perfect  place to raise 6 boys. We all enjoyed running freely through out the desert and probably developed or athleticism there. My brothers all played football and my brother Buddy also played basketball. All the places name before bring back such fond memories. One business I have yet to see listed was Loewens TV. I worked there throughout my junior and senior years. Roger taught me responsibility that stayed with me throughout my working career. But its the people who make a town memorable and I could write a pretty long list. And if I don't start hearing from some of them soon I just might have to start naming them...lol. I have been to some beautiful places in this life. Ridgecrest holds a hidden beauty inside it's people. No sandy beaches, no rain forest, and no flowing fields of grain. But it is surrounded by more beauty than any desert town has a right to be. Yosemite, giant sequoias, Mammoth, etc. Just love your town, your time, and open your eyes to the people around you. God bless...Karl Phillips

I was at that Ridgecrest Pool one summer day, 1949-1951, when a gust of wind blew the roof off, into the pool. Scary!

Lived here all my life.  Even now I'm 24, still so much has changed, and I'm glad to see even now there are pictures from when I was a kid on the website.  I didn't even notice the old Club building next to KZIQ missing until recently.

This is for the webmaster- I believe I have the only original squadron patch from NOTS Inyokern. Has a jackrabbit riding a missel and the words NOTS Inyokern Ca. underneath it While I was working at TID, for the navy, the patch was used to make the frontspiece for Al Christman's Book "Soliders, sailers, And Scientists". If you would like a scan of it let me know and I'll dig it out and send it on ( no, I won't part with it)

Comments:
I remember being introduced to Lassie just down the street from where I lived. Everyday walking to James Monroe (Middle School) I would pass the house. Riding my 4-wheeler right down from Fairview in the fields and hitting a sign head on - Ouch! I miss those good ol days, but my fondest memories is Trona Pool and going out there every weekend with my parents. Had a major crush on the Cox's boy who ran the food court.
