Comments: Wayne B. Here is a response to your question. "I live in Kernville, and I too have fond memories of the lodge. I understand that the owner burned it down for insurance purposes, then got caught, but rumours fly where I live, and you cant really believe them. He would be crazy to burn such a nice cabin." I am one of the daughter's of the former owner, now deceased, Harvey Krueger and I can tell you that he himself did NOT burn down the lodge. The prospective new buyer which was making payments to Harvey burned it down when Harvey passed away. The property was never paid in full. I am quite angry that this happened since I started waiting tables in the early 70's and was hoping that one day I would be running the lodge. I am planning on moving back to CA within the next year and I plan on looking into the prospects of resurecting the lodge, if at all possible." I am curious as to why the page on Walker Pass Lodge still claims the owner burned it down? My mother, Lois Krueger and Harvey Krueger were the owners of Walker Pass Lodge. When Harvey took ill he decided to sell the lodge on a "rent with opportunity to buy", payments were being made to Harvey. When Harvey passed away the lodge was not paid off. Also, the property across the street was not part of the sale. The prospective buyer moved into the home, my home! I am very angry about this and will be looking into the legal logistics when I return, however, I hope it is not too late. If anyone wishes to assist via "pro bono" it will be appreciated. Laura, the Walker Pass Lodge girl

Hello out there. I'm looking for pictures of Merle Haggard, Bonnie Owens, Lewis Talley, Red Simpson and any other performers that played in Ridgecrest during the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's. I would also like pictures of clubs like JDs, Pat & Charlies, the Porthole, the Village or Anderson's. Will be starting a project soon on Ridgecrest music history.

Just wanted to mention, if you all didn't already know, John W. (Becktel) Bechtel -- as poster here on these pages -- passed away last year at his home in Salinas. John was 56 years old.
