Comments: I grew up on the base all my life,I loved it when it snowed, but the summers where steamy hot.I went everywhere on the base.I rode my bike around the base. I loved richmond school cause it wasnt to far from my house and I used to go there and swing and listen to music and sing my heart out, that was my fave time and going to the bowling ally.

We moved to China Lake from San Diego in the summer of 1970 I was 10 my sisters were 14 and 15 what i remember most was my oldest sister (very upset) saying " Mom there is no beach! " my mother being the quick witted person she is calmly says " Honey you are wrong, look around there is beach as far as the eye can see, what you are wanting is the ocean to go along with it!". ya my sisters were not happy about the move. me on the other hand I was very happy we were not in China ( my oldest sister , well ya know) and Daddy telling me stories about how dirt roads got to be on the side of hills and mountains. They were made by stage coaches and wagon trains. Daddy was the very best story teller. After having childern of my own yes I did inform them the desert is all beach its just the ocean that is missing.I love my desert it always stories to tell

Comments: I return to this site often to just look around and remember. Pretty amazing how attached we become to the place we were raised. I married Mary Kay Wilson, also from R/C - we were both born in the Drummond Medical Center. She says she doesn't miss it but i still wish I could live there again someday. Of course, when I returned in August a few years ago I wondered about my sanity. I have a niece who lives in R/C now with her husband and my wife has a sister there too, so we still get back once in a while. My father, Jimmie M. Craig and mother Carole G. Craig have long sice moved away. Dad died of cancer several years back and Mom is in Port Ludlow, WA living near my sister Denice and her family. Well, thanks for the interesting site and for the grand memories it brings back to me.

Comments: I was lucky enough to have called Inyokern home for around two years. It was a very happy time for me, and I've missed the community and my old friends terribly.
Thank you for this wonderful website, it really has made me homesick! :)
