I moved to China Lake in the 6th grade. My father had been in San Diego and we were transfer there. We lived in off base housing in Ridgecrest next to the Burroughs High School. I attended junior high on base and one year of High School before transferring to Jacksonville Florida. I remember crying all the way to Ridgecrest as was going to miss my friends in San Diego and then crying all the way to Florida as was going to miss my friends in Ridgecrest. I had fun in Ridgecrest and most of my friends there fathers were scientist or military too. We would roam all over the base and town. We were not afraid of walking in the desert at night climbing over fence that was closed. I loved going to local dances in town and meeting up on the mountains to party some more. We went to Whiskey Flats for a week end and remember riding on dirt bikes in the hills. We fished in Lake Elizabeth and would go to the A&W to get hamburgers and cokes. I was there but a short time but still have friends that I write to. Navy Brat's made friends easily and were always up for anything. Some of the best parties I ever went to were there. Loved your sight and brings back allot of memories.
