I was a U.S. Navy Lieutenant working at NWC (Naval Weapons Center, as it was called at the time) from 1981 to 1984. What a total culture shock from growing up a city-slicker in New York! I got out of the Navy at the end of 1984 but came to like the desert life enough to stay in Ridgecrest to start a Real Estate investment office known as HomeFinders which I operated till 1998.
I would love to hear from anyone who has pictures of the 100-year flood that happened sometime around 1984 (or later?), especially pertaining to the damage at/to Michelson Lab on the base...
