Researching my family history, specifically that of John Carricart, for whom Carricart Street in Ridgecrest is named. He operated Junction Ranch with Domingo Etcharren.
Came to area 1890, in 1947 was caretaker of Junction Ranch for Navy. Was killed that year when hit by Navy munitions truck in Los Angeles.
Stories have him also in Darwin, Johannesburg, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, but his heart was in the desert. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with any information, pictures, or stories pertaining to him.

How many years were you in the desert? I was born in Trona and lived in desert 23 yrs.

Left the desert for the ocean lifestyle { you cant surf dirt} but do have fond memories Like hanging out at the pools on base ,going to the movies and at 5 yrs old crossing the blvd to go the the liquior store to buy candy {try that now at 5 see how far you get} then going up to kLOA radio station to help {Wes} do the dog gone news. the hot summer nites falling asleep to the sound of the swamp coolers in the base houses.........I could go on and on very sad to see all the houses gone though.
