Wow. So many memories. Most fun when I was a kid I think. Going to the movies (10 cents a movie) the base pool, skating on the slab of cement out in the desert. Just running around in the desert. Catching lizards, climbing B mountain, goat heads-Ouuch! Trying to keep track of base pass as you had to have it to get in or out of base.  A lot of fun as a kid. As I got older I couldn't wait to get out of there. Blow this one horse town! I now live in a smaller town! Ha. I love it though. I would like to go back and look around as Pat makes it sound so inviting.

HAD TONS OF FUN IN RC.  IN SOME WAYS I WISH I STILL LIVED THERE, BUT GLAD I DON'T.  TOO HOT!  LOTS OF THINGS TO REMEMBER LIKE HANGING OUT AT GRAZI'S AFTER SCHOOL.

AND MR. BELL, MY FAVORITE MATH TEACHER. HOPE HE IS WELL.

I REMEMBER WALKING HOME FROM MONROE AND STOPPING AT CARLS JR AND GETTING FREE ONION RINGS.  AND RUNNING THE TREES AT MURRAY FOR P.E. TO MANY THINGS TO LIST.

I DO MISS LIVING THERE BUT I LOVE WHERE I LIVE NOW.  MUCH SMALLER AND GREAT PLACE TO RAISE MY DAUGHTER AND CHILD TO BE.  HOPE ALL IS WELL AND MISS YOU GUYS.

I moved to Ridgecrest in the late 50's.Went to school at Murry J.H and Burroughs High School. I can remember most of the people I new back then. Most of all I remember the A&W nights. Bobbie Kilpactrick,John Kermode,Don Rexon,Bill Martian, (Jack Carr RIP). I hope the names are spelled right.

I also remember hanging out on China Lake Blvd watching people drive up and down the street next to the Burroughs exit.

Fosters was also a big hang out. Tony Jamie, Debbie Blackmore, Linda Watson,Carla Tompson. Sometimes I wonder where all these people went, and what the are doing at this time.

If anyone wants to e-mail me, I look forward to hearing from them.

Comments:

Memories...well Senior Taco (3 tacos for a buck) that's a pretty fond memory.  As is the old Foster Freeze where my brother and his friends and I would chow down after being at the Lake.

How's this one, the Kern County library (when it was on R/C Blvd and we didn't really have library cards, we'd sign (in pencil) and they'd loan us a book).

The Ridge Theater is a fond memory as is the Crest Drive In.  Who's going to talk about the "Rocks" or the "Haystack" or any other desert rat watering hole?  I've only "heard" of them (wink wink).

I guess the ole R/C Bowling Alley was also a good place to spend time.  They always seemed to have their swamp working pretty good.

Now that I live in Tucson, I'm amazed at how many people from R/C are here.  It's almost like R/C....desert only much larger.

I actually have one other thing I'd like to share...does anyone besides me remember those "shakes" at Burroughs?  You know, the frozen ice cream in a cup?  Or Bower Burgers (not sure of the spelling) (next to where John's is now)?
