Incredible site. I only stumbled on this website today quite by accident while "Googling" a school subject for my 10 year old son ( a topic which had nothing to do with the area or the content).

Wow!  What a walk down memory lane.

I was born and raised on the base (living in B-site Capeharts, up to my 18th birthday). Graduated from Burroughs in '73.  Finally moved away to enjoy the outdoor life of the Northwest in '78.   (Haven't been to visit Ridgecrest for a number of years).

I couldn't believe all the painstaking effort you have put into this impressive website. It has reminded me of the fortunate, adventurous upbringing I had there.  All your little vignettes, the pictures, the testimonials -- brings to life (and supports) the many tall tales I have told my kids (all 9 of them) about what it was like for ol' Dad growing up there.

Growing up in Ridgecrest was an ADVENTURE!   Having always lived right at the outer edge of the housing area on the base (with the desert spaces right out our back door) a young boy such as myself  could easily get lost in wonder with his own Indian Jones-style conquests and excursions, just by simply going out lizard,  tortoise, "horny-toad", tarantula, and snake huntin'.   And when those flash floods would come, carving out giant arroyos in the desert behind our neighborhood, I would go out with a fishing pole truly believing I would catch fish!  My parents would remind me that the closet thing there was for me catching something was either the fairy shrimp on Dry Lake after a rain, or a whippin if I wasn't back home by supper.

Hey, now there's something you might include on your site:   'B' Mountain and Dry Lake.  (Oh yeah... Let's not forget the WIND!!! I don't know how many disappointing memories I had as a little kid of the Desert Empire Fair and big top being closed down because of WIND). Yes, I remember when DEF was on Chinal Lake Blvd, between Las Flores and the A&W.

By the way, nice tribute to Corny.

And did anybody remember Sanquist Spa, NAF pool, or the old quarter midget track???

Well, hey, I was so darned impressed with your website I just had to notify several old buddies and family members to tell them about it.

(Our fondest memories were of our dirt-bike days, and the Dist. 37 Desert Races -- The Hare & Hounds, Hare Scrambles, etc.)  Your site includes all the great places we rode out to. We're especially reminiscent of Wagon Wheel and the treasured memories we all had out there.  Nice photos!

Every location you have listed on this site brings back a fond recollections (including Trona Pool).

So, as Bob Hope would say, "Thanks for the memories."  You guys have spent an enormous amount of work and passion in developing this website!  You're to be commended, and RECommended.

The Indian Wells Valley and surrounding area made a positve impact on my upbringing.   However, a debt of gratitude is owed to BHS teachers, Louise Riffe and Merl Rizer, who also made a diiference, in getting a smart aleck kid (who never wanted to do anything but race motorcycles) pointed toward a more secure future.

I was born in Ridgecrest in 1969 and spent my childhood in randsburg and ridgecrest.  I went back a few years ago.  I miss the area.  Some day I hope to move back.  I would love to live in Randsburg.

I just want to thank everyone involved in this website for providing a place my family can come and reminisce about our wonderful years in the desert.  The website also comes in handy when I need backup for my tall tales of Mojave life.

We miss the friends we left behind in Ridgecrest and the close sense of community that I don't think I have ever seen anywhere else.  You can take the man out of the desert ...
