I keep an eye on your site, off and on and often wonder why this history isn't of interest to more local IWV residents. Most of the info you have is actual and to the point. Thank you so much.

Thank you for this site! It reminds me that I really had a perfect childhood. We lived on Burroughs Avenue across the street from the high school-all that housing is gone now, which is rather shocking to see-but the pictures here help refresh my memories.

This is a wonderful site. Sent to me by my best friends daughter. I have only had it two days and have been down memory lane for hours. I was surprised I didn't see more of my old class mates names. I know they are still in Ridgecrest. Guess I will have to get out my books and E-Mail it to them. I only moved to California City because it has very nice Senior housing. I went to school in Inyokern 7th and 8th grade because no schools in Ridgecrest. My sister Joan went to Randsburg to High school. My little brother wasn't old enough for school. Then to Burroughs (Class of 50) Ridgecrest is my home. I married a marine stationed at China Lake. He passed away in 1989. Our daughter was born in Ridgecrest and one Son in Trona. We moved to San Bernardino for 15 years and then back to Ridgecrest. I guess I will remain here for the rest of my days. Its home and thanks for providing such nice memories. I remember them all. I worked at Bank of America on Base. The only Bank back then. Thanks to Opal Goode for giving me the job and from there worked in banking for about 48 years. Worked at every Bank now in Ridgecrest. Only correction I can think of now is, Searles Credit was never WestAmerica. It was Valliwide Bank. Westamerica bought them, but Ridgecrest office closed. Nice place to work. First Federal was great also. Bank of America. NWC (Altaone) was another. I could go on for hours. Lets just say my life was wonderful growing up in Ridgecrest. I cried the day they took down the theater. So many memories there. And last but not least the Marine Corp Barriacks. Met my husband in the parking lot of that one. With friends of course.Cried that day too. Again Thank You Great Job. Plan on forwarding this site to all my old class mates who are still living.
