This is a great site. As you get older, these sort of things are more important. Kathy, my wife, who was Kathy Radcliff and I both have enjoyed this site very much. We lived there from about 2 years of age until we moved away in 1965. Kathy's mother and father lived there until they passed away. They both are still there, so to speak. I moved there with my parents in 1943 and Kathy moved there about a year later. My father was a very good b and w photographer and I am sure has many pictures of the area. I will work on getting some them scanned and digitizied to send to you. Thanks again for a great site.

My family moved to China Lake in the summer of 1945. I remember how hot it was when we got off the bus outside the gate. I went to Burroughs from kindergarten through the first half of the 5th grade when Dad and I moved away. We lived at 204-A Ellis. We were the first occupants of the duplex - in fact it wasn't quite finished when we moved in.
China Lake was a fascinating place to grow up in those early days. How many people do you know who had to check their front 'yard' for sidewinders before going out to play? We went on picnics/camping trips to Robber's Roost, the Pinnacles, Red Rock Canyon and Whitney Portals. I visited last Fall and couldn't believe how many things had changed.
