I can't think of any stories that haven't already been told. This is a great site.
My Uncle was Gray Rager of K&R. Kessler and Rager came from Dinuba, Ca. where most of my family was. They heard China Lake was a great place to start a business. My parents came here to work at China Lake when my Dad got out of the Navy in the early 50's. Most of my family has worked at China Lake as do I.

In answer to Terry Kokosenski's question, the rock shop outside Mojave was called "Desert Winds" when my grandparents owned it. I think they ran it from the early-1960's until the early 1980's. Along with rocks & gems, they also sold jewelry & other small gifts that were made by my grandma. It was a pretty cool place.

my father owned a body and paint shop in 1967-1971 in ridgecrest  I used to go there and hang out with him as a child..we lived in yuciapa calif he would drive home on the weeks ends.planning to move his shop to palm springs. He hired locals to work with him..when He died they ripped him off..My dad always said treat others as you want to be treated and he ,lived it.I also remember a man named cornelious who had mini horses which my dad bought one for me when I was 7 her name was misty.....my dad Robert Blake died of cancer at age 53 in feb 1971   Forever changing my life..for I was daddys girl.I am 53 now and buy cars at auctions and sell them.My mother was left with 6 children and a broken heart she carried the torch for my dad till the end of her life in 1999.
