Was that rock shop just outside of Mojave you mentioned once called the 49'ers Rock Shop? Coming from L.A. on Sundays, I remember always stopping by that shop on my way home to RC.

Comments: Thanks for the story about your parents' place. It brought back a lot of memories. I was born in Bishop, California in 1948, and grew up in Palmdale and Lancaster.
I've stomped across a lot of that desert over the years, starting in 1952, when I was hauled around by my grandparents, Zoe & Winston Churchill. They used to take me with them when they were prospecting, or looking for old bottles.
Grandpa used to mine or prospect up in Jawbone Canyon, and they later opened a rock & gift shop outside Mojave. Perhaps they're the same Churchills who are in your story.

Comments: I posted here at least a year ago and allowed the email option. Then just to see what happened I turned that option off. It seems like once you turn it off you can't turn it on again so just thought I would post again with it on. China Lake was a fun place to work in the old days sorry to see all the changes. Especially the airfield and Echo Range was interesting too.
