Comments: I came tripping across your WONDERFUL sight via a Google search... about 2 weeks ago...and was ASTOUNDED by all the great old photos! I saved a lot of them on my PC and posted to my Facebook page - made a whole lot of RC friends on there homesick and waxing nostalgic.
My father lived there for 50 years - he has a whole lot of scrapbooks- let me see what treasures he has boxed up , and I will try to post ASAP.
Great work!

When we moved to Inyokern, I was in first grade. I remember comming down the hill to town, if you could call it that at the time. There was a post office, two gas stations, a grocery store, a cafe, and two beer joints! A few houses and two trailer parks that grew to thousands of trailers when the base was going strong. We lived in one of those trailers for awhile, then moved over close to the school in a small house. I loved living there because we could walk out into the desert and find all kinds of wildlife, including snakes! I attended school in Inyokern and then on to burroughs. I loved sports there, especially basketball, with Mr. Moore as my coach. I loved the valley, with all the hunting and fishing up 9 mile canyon and Lone Pine. I'm 72 years old now and have not been back to the area in forty years but would like to see it very much. Bud Garner
