I came to Trona in 1976 to work on the Argus expansion and was living in San Bernardino at the time. I just loved the area and decided to move here.
Bought property in Inyokern in 1982. I took a disability retirement in 2000 and am enjoying the views from Inyokern.
I remember watching the original Starwars movie at the old theater on China Lake Blvd. (76 or 77) and watched quite a few movies at the crest drive-in also.
I did a lot of exploring in the desert and being a drinker back then, I was in probably every bar in the area at one time or another, LOL.
I've seen a lot of change just in the 31 years I have been here.
Pat, I remember you from the rock club since I was a member for a short time. Great site.

i was reading an artical where a lady ate the suckers with the bumps on one side and was slick on the other side. you could win a free sucker they came in cherry and grape..could you please tell me the name of these suckers...i cant remember? Thanks Marilyn

I never lived there but my aunts and uncles lived in Randsburg and Johannesburg and we used to visit. My uncle was caretaker (I guess) of the Kelly Mine in Randsburg. I remember "the man on the mountain"; and having ice cream sodas at an ice cream parlor; my cousin in a play that was put on by . . . (a hollywood name that I cannot come up with right now!); my aunt taking us for rides on the mountain roads and it was like a rollercoaster ride; and many, many more great memories. I love the desert and always thought it was beautiful. . . .
