Was stationed at NOTS 1964 to 1967. Many friends went to Vietnam and didn't come back. Parachute Rigger at NAF in VX5 parachute loft. Married Jan Pearson of Pearsonville, only it wasn't Pearsonville then. Divorced after moving to Portland, she wouldn't follow me up with daughter Angel. When to school and got degrees. Came back in 1980 to work on various programs. Lived through the flash flood of 1984. Boeing called and have been with them eversince. Remember base library and pool. A&W and the enlistedmans club. Trona and Ridgecrest. Was there when K-Mart opened store. Played cards at Grace and Macs cardroom. Many good memories, and some sad. Looking forward to retirement and may drop in one of these days. Lots of Luck Mike Dunlop

My dad joined Civil Service during the war, we lived in Long Beach Ca. until after the war. He was then sent to China Lake. Living there of course we had a 30 minute ride to the beach and all the excitment of a fair along there, we were near a park where we took gymnastics, swimming, any sport we wanted. So after dad checked out C.L. he knew he had to sell us on the move. So he come home and told us, "it is like a desert island, a pool right in your own back yard, tall trees, rolling hills". So we go expecting to see a paradise in the desert and all the trimmings. It was night when we got there so all the base lights were lit up plus R.C. and Inyokern, we thought wow, this is really neat and so big. We woke up the next a.m. and looked out the window to see nothing but sand and dried up little bushes of tumble weed. "Dad, where is the pool?" "Oh, just down the street (the base pool)". "Well, where are the trees?" "Oh, they have plans to plant them in the near future." You have to remember, in 1945 it was just in the start up stage. There was 5 children so the only houses they had with 3 bed rooms was Bishop housing, not the best on the base. We lived there from 45-49 and had to leave because of my allergies. We moved back in 1952 after my they had discovered medicine for allergy people. Sounds like I'm old, huh? Dad still worked for C.V. but later quit and worked for the old Joe Fox. He helped put in a water line in the Mojave Desert near Death Valley. I got out of school in Jan. of 1956 and graduated with the class in June. I married the boy-next-door that I grew up with in Longview. He had joined the Navy and was on the west coast and we got married in Nov. of 56. The small hamburger joint I remember was Flowers, that owner married a person named Harts so it was renamed Harts and Flowers. Good H.B. We spent a lot of time camping at Kern River and going to Mt. Whitney when it snowed. My sister graduated in 54, Doris Head, she married Jack Radford, his mother retired from the post office in Ridgecrest. They now live in Tx also. Would love to hear from someone from the '56 class. Janie
